This has certainly been a fun filled week with Dr. Seuss activities. Monday focused on the book "A Great Day for UP" and each child had a kite for flying fun. We went out for recess and felt a vigorous breeze. Our plans were to fly our kites after lunch so this was a welcome sign. We ate quickly and ran to the field. That's when we felt it. Nothing. The air was completely still with no promise of a breeze. Oh dear, what to do when kite flying has been promised to young ones and the wind won't cooperate? I told them to run, run and run! They did and still the kites refused to fly. Ahh, the children didn't seem to notice that their kites were supposed to be in the air without the aid of their hands. Who am I to mess up a good time?

Today's "Wacky Wednesday" theme began with trying to read the book earlier in the week only to discover several pages were torn out of my very old copy. Walmart saved the day and we read the complete story today. While the story has some funny items to find, it didn't compare to the outfits worn by our class! They were quite pleased with themselves so of course, pictures had to be taken. They are now loaded to the page.

Tomorrow is my favorite story "Horton Hatches an Egg". I love this gentle giant who manages to nurture a delicate egg in spite of his size and the reality that the responsibility is not really his. This will accompany Friday's reading of "Green Eggs and Ham". Naturally green attire is desired! An egg drop celebration will take place behind the big white house at 10:30 and our class is fairly sure they have the answer to keeping their egg safe.

Yesterday, in your child's folder, you should have found the latest Scholastic Book information. We only have this order, April's and May's left this year so if you have been putting off ordering, now is the time to get serious!

Today your child has brought home a DVD with the Early Learner plays from last month. I know they will play on a computer but haven't tested them on a television. Please let me know if you have any problems with your copy.
