It was one of those days. The weather was dreary but the children were full of cheer and energy. What's a teacher to do but put animal tails on everyone and leave them on through the morning circle. We missed one and it went out for fruit break play. although it was a tiger, I was assured it played very nicely.
We have been adding fish to our bowl each day and counting them. Today fish number 11 was added. In my saddest voice I announced 100 fish would not fit into our bowl. I did, however, have a solution for the problem. I pulled 10 fish off and put them on the white board. We counted gain and wrote the numeral 10 beside them. I then pulled out a much larger fish with the numeral 10 written on it and placed it in the fish bowl. It all made sense to them today but tomorrow may tell another story.
Our time together is short on Tuesdays so for our last bit of fun I put on the reading tape for "Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom". We looked at the story together while Ray Charles read to us. Before I could jump to the tape player the story began again with percussion added. The children jumped right up and danced through the story. I believe this says everything about our day! Keep dancing folks.
