Thanks to all for participating in such great conferences. This is really such a sweet, witty class that I never tire of singing their praises. We have finished our unit on Africa and will begin studying Europe by way of England. We will also have our "All Things Strawberry" unit next week. Since we Americans are so attached to the English (and their royal weddings!) and they also have annual strawberry celebrations, I thought the two units were easily tied together. Say... wouldn't a field trip to London's Strawberry Festival be an incredible learning experience? After next week we will also do a weather unit. Since "April showers bring May flowers" and England is known for its rainfall, these two units also tie together beautifully. Don't you love it when a plan comes together? I did remember to ask a few parents but let me ask the rest of you now. I need old t-shirts to cut into strips. We'll use these for an art project so please don't ask any more questions. If you're ready to be rid of some old shirts would please send them to me. Think of it as recycling and it may make it easier to part with them. Our class picture was taken Wednesday. As I mentioned previously, Teena takes a "pretty" picture and a silly picture. We had a little visitor that morning who acted as Teena's helper. She used a plastic frog to hop on her head to make the children smile. Our little visitor got so tickled that we all started laughing. After numerous takes, Teena finally got 2 good pictures. Oddly enough, she got a great silly photo on the first take. I could have told her that would happen and wouldn't have it any other way. Have a great weekend!
