It's our "All Things Strawberry" week and it started off with making muffins and smoothies. Xan's grandmother, Booboo, came in to help us. She brought a simple, but tasty recipe that involved every child with measuring, cutting berries (with plastic knives), stirring and tasting. As they recounted the all steps involved in making their muffins, they became quite impressed with themselves. In comparison, the measuring of frozen strawberries and apple juice and cutting bananas was simple when we made the smoothies. Tomorrow is our day for of Enrichment classes so we have very little time in the room. The children will, however, have time to stir up strawberry popsicles. Lynn will be with them tomorrow and loves to cook with children. She will freeze their concoction in the kitchen freezer and wait until Wednesday to eat them. The children are scheduled to sing at the Methodist Home in the morning and should be back in time for their treat. If time allows we'll have some science too. Speaking of Wednesday.... The children will sing for the senior citizens who live at the United Methodist Home. Logan's grandmother is the director and is already known by the children since she has eaten lunch with us several times this year. I know they will be very excited when the walk in and see her! We will leave the school by 9:30 and will plan to sing for 1/2 hour. Since young children and senior citizens often make fast friends, I can't wait to see their interaction - especially with this very outgoing class! Scholastic Book orders are also due Wednesday. Online orders are due by 9:00 p.m. Wednesday so I can finalize the order. We want to receive this order before Easter for the parents who plan to use books as Easter gifts. If you wish to do this, please let me know and I'll keep it a secret from your child.
