Wow, we got it all done! I don't mean just our art projects - which are incredible -but also our Thanksgiving place mats and our turkey puzzles. It took concentrated effort but this group loves a challenge. Tell them we have way too much to accomplish and they will show you how much they can do.
Tuesdays we have very little time together so we spent our precious academic time making our Friendship Mix. I explained that the first Thanksgiving coincided with the traditional harvest festival celebrated annually by the Wompanoags. Both groups wanted to celebrate their crops and survival so they came together with their bounty and feasted for several days. Our mix was like theirs because we each brought something to the table and combined them for a new meal. We will eat this for our snack tomorrow.
At 11:15 tomorrow we will walk over to Hollins College. Everything occurs in the Moody Center so if you want to view the art show with your child, meet us there around 11:30. We'll go upstairs for the viewing and then come back down to the cafeteria for the noon feast. You may take your child to find a seat. I will have children with me whose parents cannot make it to the meal (Hey, I need someone to sit with too!). Kim M. will have the children sing a song and give instructions.
Due to the hard economic times many families are facing, we are asking each family to bring two non perishable food items to the luncheon. They will be picked up later in the day.
I know there are a few questions about foods to bring. Make anything your family will eat including sandwiches, pizza or soup. The point is that we gather together to share food and conversation. It all ends at 1:00 when you can take your child's art work home. Don't forget to pick up your plate if it's not disposable. You can take your leftovers (if there are any) home or we will take them to the RAM House. It will be a fun way to celebrate the season and begin our holiday. See you there.
