Our day began with Music and Spanish so I didn't have my little friends until time to eat fruit break. Afetr playing we were joined by our buddies in Kim's class.
Since it is the season of all things spooky, we worked on eerie spider webs. I drew 25 white spider webs on dark blue paper. I have used this craft in the past to determine hand strength and coordination but today it was just for fun. Children have to follow the curved lines with glue or paint without missing any areas.
They could choose between glue and silver glitter, 5 colors of glitter glue or using white paint with Gooey Glow (a glow-in-the-dark additive)mixed together in a squeeze bottle. The buddies had to work together to help guide each other's hands and choose their media. Kim and I were pleasantly surprised when most of the children decided to use several glitter paints and glitter and the white paint. Their creations are beautiful. Once dried, all will glow at some point in the web.
Speaking of buddies... our Oklahoma buddies have been collecting their favorite family recipes. Most of this class is either Native American or from the Marshall Islands. Only a few areyour run-of-the-mill mutt Americans. I asked our 2 classes today to begin collecting recipes that you as a family often use. If you are from another country or use family recipes handed down from immigrant relatives, we would love to add those recipes to the collection. When we have collected all the recipes and have the Oklahoma set, I will compile a Buddy Recipe book for each of the children in my class, Kim's class and Mary's class (our OK buddies). You can begin sending those in immediately.
Next week we will have several spooky crafts going on in the room so don't be surprised if you here about HUGE spiders and flying ghosts!
