Once again the Early Learner parents have outdone themselves supporting their children and our latest community project. Today's bake sale brought in $62.30 (several donations brought us to the odd number) already. This means we can buy 3 flocks of chicks for three needy families.

There were a few leftover items that went to the office to be sold. This gives teachers who couldn't get to us and parents an opportunity to help the cause! We will keep you updated.

Aaron Plaski reminded me today that our last conference is just one week from today. Where does the time go? If you have a conflict and can't make your scheduled time, please let me know ASAP so we can work out an alternate time. The current schedule can be found in yesterday's Quick Notes. I love seeing each child's progress but I must admit to a degree of sadness when I do the LAST conference. This is such a loving, funny group that I hate to let anyone leave.

I have been asked about Celebration night. It is the evening of our last day of school (a week from Thursday) and it is the final get together for the entire school. Each class, or groups of classes, do something that has been meaningful for them in front of the school family. Our oldest students (Seminar) make a speech, our retirees are honored and Holly (or Michi) will announce the Strawberry Festival earnings. The evening ends with the school forming a circle and singing Joni Mitchell's "The Circle Game".

Our class decided to perform "No. No I Never Go to Work". Although parents have a DVD, the rest of the school hasn't seen it yet. Laura and Chas Worley found toy trumpets for the children to use in the performance. It is really important for as many children as possible to be present since we are a small group. Please let me know if your family has a conflict. Also keep in mind that the younger children perform first.

We have continued our reading in the Skippyjon Jones series and read "Skippyjon Jones and Mummy Trouble" today. Elena found out we were reading these and has asked if the books can come to Spanish class Friday. Judy Schachner had cleverly written these books so adults will find humor that children will miss while also making it fun for children to read.
