I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I for one needed the rest after helping with Arts Festival. I will add pictures from the performances and of art work to the blog. I was so proud of our Early Learners' performance. They were chatting this morning about the three performances and decided while "Cinderella" was very good, theirs was the best. Obviously, we don't have self-esteem issues in this room!

Friday we began reading the Skippyjon Jones series of books. Skippyjon is a Siamese cat with a big imagination. Once he enters his bedroom closet he becomes the great chihuahua, sword fighter, El Skippito. He has many adventures fighting big and/or bad guys with his friends the Chimichangas. Friday we read the first book, "Skippyjon Jones" and today read Skippyjon Jones in the Dog House" and "Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones". I highly recommend these books for light-hearted summer reading. The children will recognize the real Spanish words used and love the -ito added to words to make them sound Spanish.

Tomorrow is the Early Learner Bake Sale. We had 90% of our parents volunteer to bake so I won't bother with individual names. Generally we sell cookies 2 per bag, small muffins 2 per bag and everything else bagged singly. If you lack sandwich bags just send then in on a paper plate or large bag and we'll do the rest. It will be a good lesson on the work behind retail sales.

There is no LAM or pizza tomorrow so please pack a lunch for your child!

We have only 6 school days (after today) left and in that time we will celebrate our summer birthdays, celebrate Brandon and Chloe's birthdays, rehearse for Celebration night, have an Early Learner Carnival (Shh.. don't tell your child) and prepare for Conferences. Whew, I need another long weekend just thinking about it all! Our calendar will soon post on the blog.
