I'm sure you've heard many details by now about our Carnival. I think we adults had as much fun as the children. We were so fortunate the storms held off until school ended. While it made putting equipment away a bit tricky, at least the children didn't miss out on any of the fun.

Yesterday we walked over to Hollins to rehearse for Thursday evening. Normally I wouldn't dream of walking ten 4 and 5 year old children over by myself but this class listens, walks hand in hand and loves to stop and view nature. We frightened a pair of ducks on the Hollins campus which tickled the children. On the way back we stopped several times to run a few crazy circles around lamp posts and trees. I introduced them to weeping willows and had them feel the bark and willows.

While on the large bridge we were looking for ducks when Brandon's birthday badge feel off. He looked at me in horror and I said, "Now the ducks will know it's your birthday too!". The children laughed and disaster was averted. It's wonderful to have a class that can laugh at life's goofs and see the silver lining when things go wrong.

Tomorrow is Conference Day and the schedule is listed below. I will give you back their change of clothes, many papers and anything left in their cubbies.

Thursday is water day play. The Middle School will host the events which are always great fun. Your child will need to arrive in their bathing suit with a dry change of clothes and a labeled towel. Flip flops quickly become a slipping hazard so if your child has water shoes please send them. Sunscreen is advised. I can put lotion on the those who have signed forms and sent in lotion but everyone else will need to put it on before coming to school. In the event of rain, it will be cancelled and we'll play inside. Dismissal is at noon.

Thursday evening will begin with picnic on the grounds of Hollins at 5:00. The program begins at 6:00 but please bring your child to me at 5:50. We will sit in a marked pew inside the DuPont Chapel. We will perform early and your children are welcome to sit the remainder of the program with me or with you. Dress is casual but it would be nice if the children could wear a Community School or Strawberry Festival shirt. Shorts are preferred since they will sit on the steps up front to introduce themselves. They have worked hard on their song and I am so proud of them. I know you will be too!
