Beautiful weather, a class play and a picnic at lunch time - how can life get any better?
The early Learners has their Drama class plays today and I must admit our class was fantastic! I might be just a little prejudiced but I know good acting skills when I see them. They spoke in their big stage voices and when Julie spoke their lines first they added lines and sound effects. Our little visitor sat in my lap to watch and laughed as hard as I did. Several people recorded the plays and tomorrow we will begin editing and combining those to create a DVD for each family.
There was just enough time after the play to catch an extra 15 minutes of play. It was so beautiful out we decided to picnic outside at lunch. It seems the entire Elementary area had the same idea and it was like a delightful day in any park.
We had yoga before rest time today. I began it with Sun Salutations and hip openers. A few favorite poses and balances followed and then I let each child pick or teach a pose to the others. Some were poses we learned earlier in the year and some were ones they made up. It is interesting to watch them explain their made up poses. They not only explain how to get into the pose but also the reason for the name. It makes me wonder if I introduce poses in this manner too. Often their made up poses are real ones with different names but I like our names. Several children have asked me to share the names of the videos I use for children's yoga. They both are produced by the Gaiam company and have Marsh Wenig introducing each pose. Their names are "YogaKids ABC" and "YogaKids Silly to Calm". I bought mine together but they are available seperately.
Scholastic flyers come home today. I added a Click flyer which carries Video and computer games for varying ages of children. All orders are due Monday, March 15.
