For the first time ever, we did a "No Snow" dance. Since I have never needed one before, I had to create one on the spot. It has 3 "no"s followed by a "snow". It includes a little hand movement so ask your child for a demonstration. It couldn't hurt.
We accomplished so much today in preparation for our 100th Day of School celebration. With the help of our buddies we made 5 mats of candy hearts, 2 strings of 100 paper clips hooked together, painted most of the class' toes and started stringing Dum Dums.
In the midst of all this work we also did a dot-to-dot of a gingerbread man that went up to 45. Boy, did our 100 mats come in handy when some of the children couldn't remember what the next number looked like!
Rowan was our leader today and he had such a funny "Show & Share" for us. He had a penguin with a suction cup on its belly. He stuck to the white board and insert a round disk into its mouth. He then pushed a button on its back and the disk shot up in the air. We all squealed with delight (me included) and made him do it over and over. The "Show & Share" items have been so creative lately. The blog has a video of Brandon's magic act and we hung Logan's art work on our wall. I love when children bring a talent or a special toy to share. It shows that you have been helping your children find a way to shine in front of their classmates.
I have been asked to share that the Cool Stuff Store (Katie and Lena's class store) will be open tomorrow during Fruit Break. There were a few treats left over from the bake sale today that they will also sell.
Tomorrow evening is our Information Session beginning at 7:00. We are doing a different style of presentation this year. In the past it was often hard for parents to decide which group they needed to attend or had 2 groups to attend. This year we will have everyone together and start in Katlyn's room. We will move through the 4 classrooms to show the progression as children develop and how our school philosophy flows through the levels. We also have a display area set up in Patti's room for examples of multi-level buddy work. It will take only an hour with light refreshments served at the end. Please come and bring your friends.
It's time to start talking about the Strawberry Festival. We have a website up an d running for information, large orders, T-shirts and signing up for your volunteer hours. When you go to the school web site you will see a small strawberry in the upper right hand corner. Click on it to enter into Berry Paradise!
