The morning began with a chaos that is unusual even for us. Katlyn's car betrayed her on the highway so her class was split between Tulie's and mine for the first 30 minutes. For some reason I thought This seemed a good opportunity to take pictures. So for the next eon (it seemed) the children posed, played and created beautiful works of art. It really is so nice to have the younger children visit and give my class a chance to be the "big kids". I had pulled out some fun seasonal stamps and explained how to use and clean them. Nora remembered every step from the last time and offered to be the Helper at that table. She really was wonderful at guiding the younger ones and cleaning the stamps. She even cleaned the tables at the end. Hmm... I wonder if she could come home with me?

After fruit break play the Seminar students came in to spin dreidels with us. They explained the rules and the fun began. Logan got so tickled he giggled all through it. I think the seminarians enjoyed it as much as our children. We ended with everyone eating a piece of gelt (chocolate covered coins).

I then gave our class a page with two seemingly identical pictures. With a warning that there were seven difference they were off with their crayons. No one found all seven but between them seven were found. Although this sounds like just a fun game it really is also great foreground/background training for the eye. The ability to distinguish between the two is necessary for reading printed words on a page.

After lunch I pulled out my puppet stage and new seasonal puppets. Making up shows was great fun until they discovered the top board was really a CHALKBOARD! For those of us who grew up with chalkboards and their dust, this next event may be a mystery. The children got out my chalk and the larger chalkboard and tried to draw on their own square inch of empty space. When I pulled three more chalkboards out of the closet, it was a party with chalk as the honored guest. Wow, why do we buy toys?

Here are a few reminders of upcoming events:

Thursday is the play "Frog and Toad"
