Yesterday and today have been a blur of activity! Yesterday we made shape robots, painted glowing webs, gave our spiders eyes and mounted them on their webs and did an amazing yoga workout. This class is becoming quite limber and wanting their workouts! At this rate, I may have to bring a real yoga teacher in soon.
Today the children went to music and then came to the room to change to their costumes. I surprised them by greeting them in my Little Red Riding Hood costume. For some reason my long braided, blonde hair seem the most fascinating thing about me. After they changed they were much more interested in their costumes.
The weather looked threatening but we were able to have our parade. The Middle School and Administration turned out for the show and clapped loudly for each group as they walked by them. You've never seen a happier group of children. Katlyn and I took numerous pictures which will be added to the blog once we merge them. Any parents here who took pictures are welcome to add their pictures too. Just e-mail them and we"ll (meaning Katlyn will hold my hand) do the rest.
After the parade, Michi surprised the children with apple cider and donut holes. They were properly thrilled and polite.
The Early Learner rooms each had two activities for the children. They played a unique form of Musical Chairs, made foam Jack-O-Lanterns, beaded bracelets, iced pumpkin muffins and painted Halloween creatures. We finished just in time for recess (after a quick change of clothing).
Our class had a picnic with Katlyns' and a few of my former students came to add to the fun. I threw down a bedspread and a picnic tablecloth and we were set. I love Friday lunches when the children are allowed to visit other rooms for the meal. I often get to know the youngest children this way and have already established a relationship for the next year.
Connie had treats for the children but we were late getting to the office. Victoria took her place and the children were delighted with their trick-or-treat surprise. Sofia also had treats to hand out so the fun never seemed to end. It was a great day and I hope tomorrow will be as much fun for my little friends.
Happy Halloween!
