Even though the weather was horrid, the children really loved our Fall Festival events. Thanks to all the parents who helped us make the day fun in spite of changing locations and a few events. Your "let's have fun anyway" attitudes made all the difference. I have written down those hours to go towards your volunteer time. Most people were here from 9:00 - 1:30 so that's 4 1/2 hours.

This morning's frost captured the children's interest. They first thought it was snow so I had to explain that frost was ice crystals on the ground. Fortunately they don't yet know that snow is also a crystal formation!

We reviewed the letters L and F this morning while we watched Chloe's muffin making pictures on the computer. I won't say it's slow but we could make the upper and lowercase letters while we waited for a few more pictures to load. She showed everyone the pumpkin muffins she made for the class and they were fascinated by looking at the process too. The muffins were delicious and the children surprised me by individually thanking her for making them. Trust food to bring out the best in us.

Our letter box had a new letter today. The first item gave the letter away but saying the sound with each item is half the fun. The box contained a pencil, pink paper, a paint palette, a purse, a picture of a piano, play food pizza, a duck-billed platypus (stuffed), a pink pig picture and Patti the Poodle. We had a great time thinking of P words all day - especially during bathroom breaks! Last week we learned the "The Pumpkin Eater" nursery rhyme and the were tickled when they realized it has many P's within the poem. After recess they made a Pumpkin Eater page with Peter's wife inside a pumpkin.

Before rest time we read a new book about yoga poses called "My Daddy's a Pretzel". Yes, I did plan this book but quite forgot to mention pretzels earlier in the day. They caught it when I read the title. Maybe your family can think of some more P words together tonight.
