An early morning rain shower sent our little friends inside to play. It was the first time this happened and they were as excited as hens with a fox in the barnyard! When they realized this was an opportunity to play dress-up, the real action began. We had genies, brides, a dragon and a few unidentified beings.
Once school "officially" began, Nora led our morning circle including the singing of our "days of the Week" song. She then led a march around the room to "We Never Go to Work" (our other days of the week song). Her "Show and Share" had us laughing to a Frankenstein toy singing "The Monster Mash". Titus and Grace also brought their "Show and Share" today so we saw an action figure I can't even begin to spell and read "Splat, the Cat". By this time my lesson plans had flown out the door and we ate our early Tuesday fruit break. I can't complain when my class is singing, listening to a book and happy.
Today they saw Kim, Julie and Elena. Since the class has been singing a bat song this afternoon I as assuming their songs were focused on Halloween. While in Drama, I happened to come up the stairs in time to hear Rowan say he wanted the class to be "bad skeletons". I'm not sure what the difference is between a good skeleton and a bad one but the children seemed to know. Our Bolivian exchange students are now here and our class met them today. I believe it was Bruna who walked them outside speaking in near perfect English. She is very young looking but of Middle School age.
After lunch the children glued eyes on their spiders and we sang "Witches Brew" for the first time. They all wanted a turn to throw the special brew items into my cauldron but it will have to wait until tomorrow.
Please read our Quick Notes about upcoming events (like the Halloween parade) and to double check your Conference time. If your current time isn't going to work please contact me right away so we can may other plans. I have heard from several parents and we made the needed changes. I understand that life sometimes gets in the way of our plans so I try to be flexible.
Katlyn merged our pictures from yesterday to post on all the E.L. blogs but she can add your pictures as well. You can send them in on a CD, e-mail or thumb drive. It was a great day and the pictures help those who could not go enjoy it too.
