This morning we had an early circle time and then some fun music in the classroom. You may hear your child singing,"Put your finger in the air, in the air...". That is one of our fun songs requiring them to listen and then put their fingers where the song instructs them. It's almost as silly as "Join in the Game" . This is a Greg and Steve song that has the children snoring, clapping, hiccuping, sneezing, and giggling in the verses. Some of the verses have them doing as many as three of those activities at once. That's when the laughter usually takes over.

After an early fruit break, the children had Music, Drama and Spanish classes. When I asked what they had done today I got the same response many of you tell me your child gives about the day, "Nothing". I know they are learning animal names in Spanish but I'll have to check on the other classes to get the real info!

Tomorrow I will be explaining what a compost pile is and we will as a class, along with the rest of the school begin adding paper, leftover food (no meats or dairy) and leaves to the school compost. We are trying to become greener than in the past and we will use the rich compost soil to add to our flower beds in the Spring. I wanted to give you a heads up so you'll understand why your child suddenly wants you to keep EVERYTHING!

My daughter attending American University was able to obtain 4 classical music records for me. She sent home Chopin, Bach, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky. I grew up listening to the classics and had been playing a little Mozart for the children at rest time. They were fascinated with my big CDs and that round, moving circle I called a record player. Today they rested to Chopin's Nocturnes and the room was very quiet. Hmmm, I should have thought of this years ago.
