The highlight of my day was definitely the Name Skits. All the classes had clever names and our young one seemed very interested in all the acting and guessing. Now if only we can remember all those clever names!

In case you weren't able to attend, the Early Learners are collectively known as "The Wooden Shoes". We based our names on the Mother Goose nursery rhyme "Wynken, Blynken and Nod". Tulie's class is "Wynken", our class is "Blynken" and Katlyn's class is "Nod".

It rained during fruit break play so we had inside dress up time. This class is amazing to watch as they pull on seemingly unrelated costumes and create a story. Somehow a dragon, a princess, a bride and a fireman can be blended into the same story line. Move over Neil Simon. A new group of playwrights has arrived!

Our class is in different stages of cutting, gluing and starring their first page of a nursery rhyme book they will work on all year. While they work I have been pulling children for assessments (or games). They also have made bracelets and colored dot-to-dot pictures and "shown" me their work so I can make more assessments. It is less stressful to have fun and learn about the children's skills at the same time.

Today is the final day to order books from this month's Scholastic flyer. You can order online tonight if you wish and I will add our classroom orders to the online orders tomorrow.
