After a gorgeous weekend I expected tired, grumpy children. To my great delight they came to school happy and ready to play and work. We had a very full morning of coloring their Puzzle People, making pattern bracelets and playing a matching cookies game.

Our Puzzle People will be their Leader and Caboose when it's their turn and will serve as a jigsaw puzzle at other times. Our Hollins student worker, Patrice, helped take pictures of their faces for their people and for some name matching games later.

Before recess we found time to play Sound Bingo. I have two versions using farm animals and household sounds. I was surprised when the farm animals were easier; even with having both rooster and chicken and both horse and donkey on their cards. Learning to listen is an extremely important skill to help distinguish between letter sounds.

Our yoga lasted longer than usual today. Everyone wants to show a pose now and we try to honor this. I think we may need to make our own yoga book. Some of our children do great poses!

"Sammy the Seal" was our book today before rest. Speaking of books, our first Scholastic Book order form has come home today. Please take the time to read through the information. It's a cheap way to but great books for your child.

Tomorrow evening is our "Gathering". The Early Learners meet at 7:00 in the Art Room. Parents will meet the Enrichment Teachers at our level. We'll discuss school and level policies and Fall Festival. There will NOT be any child care available so please plan for this. See you there!
