Today was our big Enrichment day with our class seeing all 3 Enrichment teachers. Kim was first with music and the children treated me with their rendition of "I've Got Peace Like a River" after lunch. We have some great singers!

Drama with Julie followed where they are learning about personal space, how to move within their own space and how to move without invading each other's space. This is such a helpful tool when our children move around our rooms so much or sit on the rug together.

Spanish was last with Elena and she is always a hit with the children. They must have been wonderful for her because she came outside raving about my class! She is right of course.

As a class we read a special poem today that gives us our class name. Friday morning at 10:30 we will act out our name skits so we really can't give away our secret until then.

The children also met our class stuffed bear today. He will soon be coming home with one child each weekend. He will come with a journal and I'll be requesting that parents write in their child's words, the adventures our bear and the child had together. It is always fun to see which activities stand out in a child's mind. Often, sleeping with the bear is very important. This bear cannot be thrown in the washer but I can wash him from the exterior so don't worry about a little dirt on his coat. He is meant to be loved.

After numerous suggestions, it was decided Rhyme Bear was a good name for him. The children know they will be learning Nursery rhymes this year but I was still surprised when they connected the bear to our plans! I'll make a list of the order by literally pulling names out of a hat and try to keep that order all year. When the bear is at your house, please feel free to read what others have written and what your child had you write in the past. This is a great way to see your child's advancement in Language. Everyone should get at least three turns.

Please don't forget about our Gatherings tonight at 7:00 in the Art Room.

  1. Hi Ruth Ann! I am Emma's grandmother, "Tricie", and have enjoyed your blog. I imagine your classroom to be a wonderful place for little ones. Emma is so happy to tell us about her day at school and has shared some of the things that she's been learning. Thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm! Patrice
