The children have reminded me several times now that this "..is the most wonderful time of the year" as we move to yet another activity in preparation for a holiday. Today we met with Katlyn and Sharon's classes to start making our icicle ornaments for the Glebe residents. Sharon led singing while Katlyn and I worked with small groups of children. We're working on several songs but like the children, we can't decide which are our favorites!
Friday the children finished glittering their Star of David to decorate for Hanukkah. They will be so pretty hanging up. they also finished the first group of cards for the Glebe residents.
We don't have a letter or color this week since we have so many other activities going on. We will resume next week.
This is Book Fair week and we made a pass through it today to make the children's wish lists. I have put them in their folders to give family some gift giving ideas. I am pleased to tell you they were able to quickly identify books in their areas of interest and with the help of several Middle School students, the titles were written down. Parents are welcome to come peruse almost any time but if you can make it to school Wednesday for lunch or Thursday at 10:30 it will be a special time for you.
Parents and grandparents are invited to eat pizza with their child on Wednesday and then walk through the Book Fair. Each child has a form in their folder (most were sent home last Thursday) to give us a count. The school will pay for 2 slices of pizza for each parent/grandparent but I will need to know what to order. Please write the amounts and flavor choices (pepperoni or cheese) in your child's notebook.
Thursday, our class will sing at the Book Fair. This happens at 10:30 during their regular music class time. I can't wait to see them in action!
This is also the week to fill 2 Salvation Army stockings for a boy and a girl the ages of our class. Stockings must be returned this weekend. Any items your child thinks another child would want is probably going to be appreciated more than what we adults would choose.
Tomorrow a December FYI will come home to help keep track of all the activities planned for this month. It really is a wonderful time of year!
