Today my little friends are bringing home their extra clothes, shoes and rain boots. Their cubbies look very lonely now. I try to think of it as an opportunity to rest their weary wooden bones and scrub their painted skins.
Your children are also bringing home a new friend of their own. My sister loved to buy stuffed animals for children and often sent them to my classes. The bears ans mice your children have were in her house waiting for children to love them. She would have enjoyed seeing their faces when I told them they each could pick one to take home. I hope they will be loved until their fur is gone!
At tomorrow's conferences you will receive your child's tie dyed t-shirt to be worn at Celebration and their plants along with papers and art work. The last one doesn't usually last as long as others but is our chance for a real wrap up of your child's progress over this year.
On Thursday your child will not need to bring anything but their swimsuit and a towel in a bag. Please label their towels! Their snack is provided. I will send home their remaining sunscreen in their bags. Water shoes, clogs or easily removed tennis shoes are appropriate foot wear. Flipflops tend to quickly get slick and become dangerous during games.
Celebration is Thursday evening beginning with picnics on the chapel lawn at 5:00. The program begins at 6:00 and the youngest children are the first performers. Once we have performed, your children may sit with you. While I encourage you to stay for all of the program, I do understand bedtimes and sleepy children may require an early departure. There is a reception afterwards with cookies and time to visit with other parents.
Your sister would have been pleased that the bears have been adopted by children who will love them. I'm sure the bears will have many wonderful adventures!
