This morning we checked out our farm and found three large and four small strawberries on, our plant. One of the large berries is even beginning to turn red. Our bachelor buttons are growing quickly and the sunflowers are for the most part about six inches tall. Several plants have been disturbed by some nosy critters but we don't mind. The rosemary and thyme are taking longer than expected but they get the least amount of sun.
Our last book orders of the year are due Friday (the 20th). Both May and June Firefly flyers went home for your perusal but if you go online you can view about five other flyers as well. Any parent can order from any flyer I have activated online. If you see an unactivated flyer that tweaks your interest, let me know so I can activate for you.
As everyone begins to think about summer many opportunities are coming across my e-mail and desk. The drama flyers have already come home. Today Laura Compton told me about free bowling for children during the summer months at Hill Top Bowling Alley on Williamson Road. Just go to freebowling.amf.com to sign up and read about other cheap bowling opportunities. They often send me free bowling coupons via e-mail which I print off for my own children to use. At the Strawberry Festival I signed up with the Dandelion company to receive info on children''s activities so I could forward them to parents.
Our Art Festival is rapidly approaching. Our dress rehearsal is next Wednesday morning. We will ride a school bus to Mill Mountain Theater. We will have fruit break, put on costumes and then rehearse on the stage. Since the travel time added on may take a little longer than past years we ask that our half day students be picked up at 1:00 instead of 12:00.
Our performance is on Thursday at 10:30. Parents and grandparents are invited to a light breakfast and viewing of the art show. The children will ride a chartered school bus (with 5 point seat belts) to Mill Mountain Theater. After our performance we will ride a bus back to school but if you wish to take your child with you we will have staff ushers who will take your name and let us know you have your child. We teachers will be dressing the children in costumes and later helping them change back to their clothes. As you can imagine, it gets a little busy for us so we welcome the extra notification and extra eyes on our little friends.
We have been asked to remind parents that the children's art work will not go home Thursday. It will return to school later and each teacher will hand out the work. Since this is an art project the children have spent a great deal of time on, I give out work directly to parents during conferences.
