Let me begin by thanking all the parents who came out for Tuesday's Info Sessions. It was wonderful to see the parents of children moving up attend Beth's session. Our level also had a good group with great questions. I just wish we could find a way for new parents to visit with current parents so they could hear a parental perspective. Or wait, do we dare?
After a too quiet work day, I was really happy to see my little friends this morning. We had a little boy visiting with us today and my class made me so proud of them with their willingness to show him around and help him. I was a shy child (yes, it can be cured) and I know a group like this would have made me feel better.
Our literacy is entering the exciting letters now - the vowels. Today I introduced the vowel "A" and both of its sounds. Using our phones we practiced listening to "A" words and deciding if the were they began with long or short vowel sounds. It took a few tricky words but by the end of the sessions they were on it! We will move quickly into word families using the short "A" sound so get ready to add consonants to make lots of new words.
Our very popular Learning Center time followed fruit break play. I had seven activities set out with arrows pointing the direction of movement. We were able to move through 4 activities before our time was over. Logan and Bryan did a great job of reminding me when it was time to move again. That might have had something to do with the three new activities.
Yoga followed this and the weather was perfect for it. It may look easy and like the couch potato's form of exercise but anyone who has done it knows it's not for sissies. It's been awhile since we could do yoga but you would have thought it just yesterday since they last did it. Their form was quite good with minor corrections and they happily did the challenge moves. A little crazy dancing followed and suddenly it was time for lunch. They were ready for it and the following rest time.
