Between the beautiful weather and St. Patrick's Day tricks yesterday, our kids are really excited - about everything! It seems I wasn't paying the attention I should and some naughty leprechauns snuck in to Keri's room and left a mess. They even left a few other deposits in the bathroom! We later found some remnants of their presence in our room which sent the children hunting for clues. They never did find the leprechauns but it wasn't for a lack of trying!
My youngest daughter Emily came to school yesterday to play awhile (I mean work) and share some salamander information. She's a lovable biology nerd and I knew the children would have trouble stumping her with any questions on her newest favorite topic. Xan almost did but it just so happened that I knew how the "flaps" from young salamanders disappeared as they matured. Like tadpoles' tails, they are absorbed by the body. My cousin the Biologist/Herpetologist/Geologist told me. Guess lovable nerds run in the family.
Our buddies had prepared a wonderful activity for today. They each chose an African folk tale, drew an illustration and then read it to their buddy. Then our children drew another illustration for a different section of the story. They really did a wonderful job.
Enjoy this fabulous weather with your children. It's wonderful to watch them outside after such a cold winter!
