I'm glad to see the sun and warmer temperatures but the wind is a bit much for some of our smaller friends. Kris said it best when he told me the wind was "too fast"!
Our room has been taking on subtle changes with toys being switched out for others and new toys added to the shelves. While shopping for another String-Along game I found a game called Squiggly Worms. The game "board" is an apple with holes. Worms are placed in the hole and a lever starts an up and down action. Players have to grab worms. Each worm has a colored spot at the end that corresponds to cards. When a player pulls out a worm that have to either match it to a card or replace it and pull out another. They do this as many times as possible before the worms stop moving. All this action occurs in about 1 minute so they must be quick. Think of all the skills involved (fine motor, one-to-one correspondence, placement memory to name a few) and then imagine hysterical laughter. I introduced this game to the class yesterday. Our buddies from Keri's class came over yesterday for some literacy fun and this was the non-literacy game I had out. It was very interesting that my class was as successful as their older friends.
This morning was very quiet on campus. Most of the Elementary wing went to see "Suessical". We determined it was a little too long and old for our classes so Katlyn and I stayed behind. We had music and Spanish and then had the ENTIRE playground to ourselves. We had a bit of rain but because we were alone we could go in and out with the weather. It was a wonderfully pleasant way to end our week.
Next Tuesday evening are our Information Sessions. The pre-k and k groups will begin together in Tulie's room for general information and then will split for more specific information on the different age levels. This would be a great time to meet our Kindergarten teacher, Beth, and hear the difference between the levels. It's also a great time to have your friends that ask about our school come and find out for themselves. It could end up as a $250 credit towards next year's tuition. Read Quick Notes to see how it works!
Don't forget next week is Dr. Seuss week and each day is something fun to wear. Monday is the day for your child to wear their favorite color to school. We'll be reading "One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish". You will probably be shocked (not!) to hear I have many Dr. Seuss books and corresponding stuffed animals. I can't wait!
