Mondays can be challenging this early in the year. Often my little ones come in tired from a full weekend and nothing is right in their world. To ward off this "curse" I often allow morning play to last longer than usual. This morning they even got to play on the workbench outside! Whew, it could have been a tough day.
After Kris led us in the "Days of the Week" song (Naturally I had another new ending!) I put all the ending phrases we had sung to the song on the board. I then pointed out the last word always rhymed with Bear or night. They were able to think of several more rhyming words and put them into an ending phrase for our song. I think we can now officially call it "our song".
We have been working on learning their addresses and today they drew their homes on a page for their book. I am amazed at the number of very colorful trees in your yards. I have large triangular pencils we call the "special" pencils that they used to trace their address at the bottom of the page which we added to the books. We used our extra time to catch several children up on incomplete and missing pages.
Remember, if you want to place a Scholastic Book order this month it needs to be done by tonight. You can go online and place your order. I'll enter it late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
