I wish I could tell you how we spent the first part of our morning but it involved our name skit. Don't ask your child about it - remember I swore them to secrecy until tomorrow. Show up at 10:30 and you can see for yourselves. The Early Learners go first if you have just a small amount of time. We will take pictures and I'll add them to the blog.

We had our first yoga session today. We first discussed this is a QUIET form of exercise so no yelling "Look at me!" allowed. I showed them the basic Sun Salutation, Downward Facing Dog, Up Facing Dog, Cat and Cow. We were outside with our mats facing several directions. Xan, Emma and Grace learned these positions last year and the other children could see them when they weren't facing me. I've noticed in adult yoga classes that students will often look at other more practiced students and used this experience with my group. They did a great job for their first attempt. We walked in the room to put our mats back when I heard several remark they were very relaxed now. It was then I remembered why I used to do it right before rest time!

You should have found a Scholastic flyer with a note about ordering and/or viewing the other flyers online. I encourage parents to buy books from Scholastic to encourage reading at a very reasonable price. They have changed their parent ordering system a bit and I would really like to hear if it easy to order or has become cumbersome. I will pass these comments on to Scholastic when I contact them about the monthly teacher setup for parents. Of course you can still use the paper flyer to order and send in a check made out to Scholastic. All orders are due Monday, Sept. 20.
