Unlike the old Carpenter song, "Rainy days and Mondays" don't get me down when my little friends and I have yoga mats! After morning circle we moved furniture back and spread our new mats for a wonderful session. I am still amazed how many poses this class can do and the ease of their poses now that they have sticky mats to help with balance. We spent 25 minutes doing yoga before I glanced at the clock and realized we needed to get ready for fruit break.
After fruit break we used water color to finish the last of our planets for our mobiles. They have done a wonderful job of trying to replicate the planets by using like colors, making stripes, adding Jupiter's "eye" and creating the newly discovered polar ice caps to Mars. Next we string them and they'll come home.
Our seed paper had a little surprise for us this morning. Many of the zinnia seeds I added Thursday afternoon had already started to sprout. I've never had them sprout so fast but they offered a wonderful science lesson in seed germination. We looked them over, drew them on the board and then discussed the work of roots and leaves. These are coming home today and should go outside immediately. You can wait until the rain stops to cover them with soil but they do need water.
Tomorrow's weather report looks like today's so we will not plan on using kites after our rehearsal at Hollins. Wednesday looks more promising but I'll let you know in case anyone cares to join us. Please remember your child will need walking shoes. If at all possible, we will walk rather than wait on the bus to make 4 trips.
Reminders:
Scholastic book orders are due Thursday
We leave the campus at 9:00 Thursday to view the Art Show and watch "Cinderella".
