Thank goodness the sun finally came out! After yesterday, I'm not sure if it was the students or the teachers going mad from rain, mud and being stuck inside. It made me think of Dr.Seuss' "The Cat in the Hat" which occurs on a rainy day. I didn't dare mention it to the class because this very creative group would have gotten some very "playful" ideas.
Today was the Early Learners' first rehearsal at Hollins. Never mind they've worked for months and finally would be on the real stage. Never mind the music, props and choreography would be joined by the bright stage lights. No, the important part of the day was - riding the bus! Who knew a bus could be so entertaining?
Your child will bring home their last Scholastic flyers of the year today. It's hard to believe the time has already come but it has so take a good look. All orders, whether online or by returned papers, are due Thursday, May 27.
Yesterday we talked about the creation of the organization now known as Heifer International. When I told them the money the Early Learners earn at their June 2 bake sale will be used to buy baby chicks they were thrilled. I had to go online to their web site and show the children a flock of chicks. Emilie Temeles (the M.S. teacher) has a some chicks on campus and we are hoping to see them soon. I do appreciate the returned forms and verbal commitments to bake. This fill a void in the bake sale schedule and will provide a start up flock for a needy family (or families). There is a bake sale tomorrow for those whose children want to buy a sweet treat.
