Where's Spock when I need him? Our room is slowly turning into a Space Museum but the children have so many questions I hardly know where to begin! The sun seemed a logical starting point since it is the center of our solar system (maybe there's a bit of Spock here after all!). We talked about it's distance from Earth (93,000,000 miles) and its extreme heat. I lit a candle so we could observe the different colors of fiery gases and talked about solar flares.

We will talk about the eight planets and poor Pluto who was dismissed as a "planetiod" last year. We will need metal coat hangers to make mobiles so if you happen to have a few from the dry cleaners, please let us use them.

Since I have a plethora of photos from NASA we will also talk about the different projects leading from a simple orbit around the Earth to the Shuttle program. One wall has already been dedicated to the Apollo program and the 1969 Moon landing. Don't be surprised if your child comes home listing off the names of heroes in the Space program.

Don't forget conferences are on Monday. If you need to reschedule please let me know ASAP.
