Our morning began with Music and Spanish. Just judging by the singing in our room I'd have to say Kim has the children ready for tomorrow! Don't forget they sing at 11:00 sharp and it is at the Valley View Barnes & Noble.

The children got to view the animated version (the original) of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" today. I had to explain that it followed the book and the narrator was actually reading the words from the book. The new Jim Carry movie deviates so far from the book that I simply refuse to have it in my collection. Since it is a short movie I also let them view "A Charlie Brown Christmas", and as I suspected they loved Snoopy's dancing.

Several children brought in change today for the POP Angel Tree recipients. I learned today they will collect until the 10th.

Keep up the great job reading to your children. Yesterday Team Peyton was far in the lead but Team Eli read so many books last night they they are only 1 behind now. We only have three children reading for Team Eli so that is fantastic! Together the teams have read 43 books.

Don't forget to send in your bottle tops. This contest goes until the 12th and the number of children in each room will be figured into the ratio at the end. We have a chance at winning if we keep going the way we have been. Yesterday Junior G. found an empty water bottle in my car. I mentioned I kept forgetting to put it in recycling. He graciously offered to help me remember but questioned whose class got the lid. Not even his winsome smile can keep me from a goal when there are prizes involved!

Next Tuesday we are going to watch the Jack Tales performers from Ferrum College over at Hollins. You may have noticed it on our Leader calendar. We will walk unless it rains in which case Julie and Patti will drive everyone over in the bus and vans.

Our trip to see "Frog and Toad" is the 17th. Jeanne Counihan has graciously offered to drive her van which will hold 4 children. My car can only hold two children in car seats so I do need another driver or two. Please let me know if that's possible . We will have to leave here around 8:45 to be in our seats for the 9:30 viewing.

Yesterday the children suggested we needed more antlers in order for them to really play Santa and his reindeer. Last night I walked into the Dollar Tree (a teacher's favorite store) and wouldn't you know it, they had double sets of antlers. Oh, how they have been flying today.
