I always love a play when I am familiar with the book but "Toad and Frog" was especially well done. It was at times a knee slapper with small funny things like the snail "rushing" to deliver a letter to Toad. It takes an entire Spring, Summer and Fall for him to receive it and then the snail sang a song about having new purpose in his life and "coming out of his shell". Many thanks to Aaron, Jeanne, Kim and Frank for driving and being with the children.

Please let me take a moment to brag about our Early Learners - and you know I will! One of the museum docents saw me leaving with the group. She recognized me from working with the Roanoke Children's Theater and wanted to share with me that our children had been the best behaved children of any school. It proves children can be taught to appreciate the work of others and theater at a very early age. Yeah for us!

After arriving back the children had recess and came in for lunch. Yes, I know, the poor darlings will be exhausted from all this hard work. Nora was our leader today and she loved that turned our day upside down and did morning circle in the afternoon. Her Show & Shares were maracas which she passed around for everyone to play, and a book. She picked the perfect book and I read it before quiet rest. She brought Chris Van Allsburg's "The Polar Express". Most children are familiar with the movie but haven't read the book. It definitely is worth reading and Van Allsburg's artwork is stunning. After I finished reading it, Emma ran to the door where I now have two bells hanging. She jingled them and happily squealed she could "still hear them ringing!". I too can still hear the bells ringing but one must remain a child at heart to teach children.

Tomorrow is going to be very exciting with all our plans for their workshop. The actual workshop will begin at 10:30 so we will set up during fruit break play. Lunch is included in the workshop so you only need to send a fruit break. Do not send their bags either as we will have large Kroger bags for them to bring home their newly made treasures. The workshop is over at 11:45 so there is no conflict for 1/2 dayers. We will be taking pictures with my camera. They will be loaded on the blog ASAP but please if you see one you want, call me and I'll print it off for you or have Sam's make you a CD.

I don't know if I will get to blog tomorrow so let me say to everyone now, "Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and safe travels!". Fall of '09 has been wonderful with your children so I will be looking forward to a super second semester with them! But during the break take time to play in the snow and enjoy your little miracles.
