The gray weather didn't stop us from playing today! It was almost as though the clouds knew to hold back the rains until rest time.
We started our day with dot painting. We have what seem to be bingo markers filled with watercolor paint. The children figured out they could dab spots or slide the markers to make lines.
I made name magnets for each child and today they got to pull magnet letters from our magnet container to "write" their names. Logan and Rowan did this for me yesterday so I had examples for the other children. They only matched letters of their first names to day but I have also made magnets with their first and last names.
We also played an M&M number game. While they play I observed their numeral knowledge, counting and one to one correspondence. Isn't multitasking a teacher's dream?
Our newest game is a fine motor game with tongs, beans and bowls. The children have to pick up their color coded beans with the tongs and put them in their bowls. It's a huge hit.
The children needed to move around so we pulled out our new scarves and wiggled to the Raffi song "Shake Those Wiggles Out". It was so much fun we had to do it twice.
Tomorrow is our Name Skit day. We'll meet at 10:30 on the basketball court. If it rains we'll wait until Monday for the fun.
Scholastic book orders are due Monday whether ordering online or by paper.
