As this month ends we begin a very busy month filled with Dr. Seuss fun.  Tuesday's Quick notes have the month's calendar of events with tomorrow kicking off the fun.  Children are encouraged to dress as what they want to be when they grow up.  We talked about this today and I encouraged the children to separate jobs they would go to each day (like teaching) from jobs that are more of a lifestyle (like being a princess).  I heard some very interesting career goals today but as you might guess, they changed several times during the discussion.

Monday is "wear crazy socks day".  It seems like every day is this at C.S. but maybe some outrageous socks will find their way to school.

Our Shelter-in-Place drill went very well today.  Yesterday we discussed this is the same drill for tornadoes, wind storms, and local emergencies.  I kept the discussion away from the Sandy Hook tragedy purposely since the victims were so close in age to our class.  As a teacher you can imagine it very difficult for me to discuss this topic without tears so I didn't even want to try with children.  I think they were satisfied knowing we were practicing being safe in any situation.

Your child will bring home fund raising info today for our greenhouse.  The children will gather pledges for every hour of movement or exercise they do up to 25 hours.  They will show me their tally sheets weekly so I can keep track of our progress.  It all ends March 27 so we can take advantage of sales ending March 31.

I did open this up to all the students at the elementary level if they desired.  Several of you have multiple children here so I would encourage you to either split up the people they might ask to pledge or just have one of your children participate - preferable the child in our class.  We will have to collect pledges as soon as possible after the end date.

Our class is having such a great time with their new art center they don't want to do anything else.  I am seeing some fabulous cutting and they are painting up a storm.  I couldn't be happier.  Today we even put contact paper sticky side up on construction paper and have been sticking interesting objects on it all day.  Ask your child what art they did today.

The Middle School has asked me to announce they are having a supply drive for Angels of Assisi   They need your old towels and blankets, hand sanitizer, dog treats and Purina food.  They will collect supplies through March 14.
