A casual question started everything.  As she walked by me, Andrea asked if I might be interested in her daughter's old art table for our room.  Once glance told me my little friends would love it.  And they did!  Unfortunately, it didn't fit in our room so  we talked it over and decided to .... rearrange the room.  We walked around our space and talked about merging, changing and moving centers until we had a plan.

It was then the magic happened.  They all started moving toys, furniture and art supplies like they were employed by a moving company.  The pictures tell the story better than words but their cooperative work quickly changed the room.  I pulled more art supplies from the closet which got them to sorting and pulling new "supplies" for their art area.  They now have a room of their own making and they did a great job.  Children can do amazing things when we adults get out of their way.

Speaking of amazing... "Humpty Dumpty Climbs Again" was really funny yesterday.  Obviously, we have a class of actors.  I have to admit the best moment for me was when Sam stepped out in costume with a very serious look on his face.  I had a moment of panic and feared he would suffer a severe case of stage fright.  He glanced over at me long enough to receive my thumbs up and give me a huge wink.

I noticed several parents recording the play.  Pictures are fun but I would love to make a DVD for all the parents so if you know how, or can, please send me the movie.

Sharon said this so well I borrowed her explanation :

Safety Drill: Shelter in Place/Lockdown Drill
On Thursday, February 28, we will conduct a Shelter in Place/Lockdown Drill. We practice this drill in case of a suspicious stranger on school property, a suspicious noise heard on school property, or any other signs of danger. Staff, teachers, and students are required to stay in designated areas in their classrooms and offices and to lock all doors. Teachers will reassure their students that they are safe and to remain calm.
Ordinarily, we do not notify parents of safety drills. Given the recent events that took place in Newtown, Connecticut, we wanted to give you an opportunity to have a conversation with your child regarding safety at school.

"Thank you!"  to Sharon.
