The calendar says it's winter but the warm temperatures and the children both scream SPRING FEVER! Needless to say we really enjoyed our outdoor play today before the predicted rain comes in the next few days.

Our Chinese New Year preparations are complete and awaiting the big parade. We will don our dragon, make tremendous noise and wave our lanterns and fish tomorrow or 11:30 rain or shine. Dragons don't mind a little water and we don't mind making noise indoors. You may want to join us.

Before the parade we will gather to taste fried rice, egg rolls and Asian candies. Oh, did I mention our food will be consumed using chopsticks? Children are very creative when faced with a seemingly impossible method of eating. They either quickly figure it out or invent their own method. Both are fun to watch.

We are continuing to count to 100 in many ways. Today we finished counting and connecting 100 paper clips. About half of the class has finished counting out 100 ziti and need to string them. Four children counted out wooden popsicles sticks today and glued them to a large piece of paper. Please don't forget to work with your child on their "100" project. As of now, the 100th day will fall on Valentine's Day. Oh dear, we desperately need snow.

Remember Friday is Conference Day so no regular school. Only the couple of families that indicated they wanted conferences need come. I'll see everyone else on Monday.
