The last two days have been filled with birdhouses, aliens and water colored suns.
We have been building birdhouses for the Strawberry Festival and these children have impressed me with their wrist strength. It can be tough to set a screw completely into wood, especially wood with a bit of warping. The wood is reclaimed pallet wood from the USGS. Normally they throw this wood into dumpsters but my husband just happened to be making a sales call there and knowing his love of re-using EVERYTHING, they saved the wood for him. You can imagine my thrill when he pulled into the driveway with a pickup bed of pallets (No really, I was thrilled!). I could see birdhouses galore, and all for the cost of screws.
Our aliens are the fun side of studying the solar system. Each child was given a page of alien drawings to color. We will turn these into flip books later for a good laugh.
We have begun working on our mobiles by painting suns today. The children used red, orange and yellow water paints to paint their suns. I had them paint both sides of the paper so their suns can turn on the mobiles.
Please remember Monday is Conference Day. You can call the office if something changes or e-mail me.
